This festival aims to inspire people to explore and realize how much adventure is available right outside their door!

All entries will be viewed prior to the Festival by a pre-selection committee. Selections chosen by this committee will be screened by a jury, who will present the awards at their discretion. Selections chosen by the committee will be viewed by the public during the Festival’s event period.

Entries are not limited to one award.

Atlantic Canadian filmmakers are strongly encouraged to submit.

Films produced in the years 2025, and 2026 up to the late entry deadline are eligible for competition.

The OOFF Selections that will be screened to the public at the Festival will be chosen from the submissions. The selections will be screened by a jury who will present the awards at their discretion. 

Short Documentaries about the outdoors are accepted, and filmmakers are encouraged to push the boundaries of the form. Atlantic Canadian filmmakers are strongly encouraged to submit. OOFF is investing in the future of our planet and its people through the screening of socially-conscious and environmentally-positive media projects that inspire a spirit of outdoor adventure.

OOFF is looking for a broad range of films to feature in its selection.

Examples of types of films we’re looking for: 

  • Films about people and our relationships with the outdoors and each other.

  • Nature documentaries that explore the animals, plants, and ecosystems of Earth. 

  • Adventure sport films that make your adrenaline rush. 

  • Stories of the planet - whether they be about a specific geographic areas or cultures, or the sustainability of the planet itself. 

  • Films that capture the spirit of exploration and adventure in frontiers new and familiar, local or distant.

    • Before entering, please ensure you have read the Rules and Terms in their entirety as the submission of any entry into Outdoor Outdoor Film Festival (OOFF) implies acceptance of these by the filmmaker.

    • A film may only be entered once into OOFF. Films must be complete when uploaded at the time of entry. Works-in-progress, trailers or unfinished projects will not be considered. New versions of films already submitted will not be considered.

    • Films produced in 2024 and 2025 up to the late entry deadline are eligible for competition.

    • -If English is not the original language of the film, it must be entered into competition with English subtitles or be dubbed in English.

    • Upon submission, the filmmaker agrees to have their film screened at OOFF as part of the Festival. OOFF reserves the right in the arrangement of film screening schedules. OOFF reserves the right to remove selected films from its program for any reason and at any time.

    • The filmmaker grants OOFF the right to copy and version the entry in its entirety to facilitate technical operations of the Festival.

    • The filmmaker grants OOFF the right to use up to three minutes from the entry, as well as accompanying photos and materials submitted for promotional purposes of OOFF and its activities. Submissions may be retained by OOFF for archival purposes.

    • The filmmaker acknowledges and agrees that all matters will be decided by OOFF organizers or the OOFF jury at their sole discretion.

    • Screening fees will not be paid by OOFF. An admission charge will be made to the public in order to defray the costs of the festival event.

    • By submitting to OOFF, the filmmaker agrees that they own or control the copyright of materials in and to, and are duly authorized to submit them.

    • All entries will be viewed prior to the Festival by a pre-selection committee. Selections chosen by this committee will be screened by a jury, who will present the awards at their discretion. Selections chosen by the committee will be viewed by the public during the Festival’s event period.

    • All submitting filmmakers will be notified of the official selections prior to the festival.
